Gwiazda, Nick (19 Dec 1882 – 5 Aug 1974)

Nick Gwiazda, 91, died at St. Joseph Hospital, Chippewa Falls, of a heart attack on Monday, August 5, 1974. Funeral services were held at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Thorp, on Tuesday, August 8, 1974, with the Very Reverend Andrew Kist officiating at the 10:30 a.m. service. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Sp-4 Gregory, Duane, Michael, Brian and Jeffrey Gwiazda, and Clarence Przybylski, all grandsons.

Mr. Gwiazda was born December 19, 1882 in Austria. On September 24, 1906 he was united in marriage in Austria to Mary Figura, who preceded him in death. In 1912 they came to the States, and in 1914 they came to Taylor County, town of Roosevelt, living on a farm until 1949, and then moved to Lublin, living their until July 31, 1973, when he moved to the Gilman Nursing Home.

Surviving are three sons, John Starr, Stockton, California, Walter and Mike Gwiazda of Thorp; three daughters, Mary Przybylski, Estelle Berg, and Katherine Przybylski of Chippewa Falls. He also was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and two daughters, Sophie Gwiazda and Anna Sanyer.
