NHS 1940 Class Reunion (40th - 1980)

The graduating class of 1940 from Neillsville High School met and reminisced last Saturday evening at the Wildcat Inn. Thirty Two of the 70 members of the class were present.

Those attending from out of town were Marie (Aberle) Cernik, Eugene, Ore.; Herbert Aspen, Mt. Prospect, Ill.; Darwin DeMert, Paramount, Cal.; Larry Kauffman, Culpepper, Va; John Landry, Madison; Horace Lindekugel, Watertown; Allen Linster, Verona; Ruth (Ott) Benduhn, Milwaukee; Joseph Palmer, Milwaukee; Charles Poler, West Bend; Hazel (Rowe) Perry, Norridge, Ill.; Bernard Schaub, Plymouth; Berdina (Schoenherr) Padrutt, Cross Plains; Clyde Schwellenbach, Durand; Lorene (Searls) Halle, Noblesville, Ind.; Donald Whaley, Grand Island, Neb.

Those attending from the local area were James Cummings, Alma Center; Elmer Hoesly, Marshfield; Raymond Tesmer, Merrillan; Edward Vinton, Thorp; Dale Short, Granton; and from Neillsville came Marion (Carl) Ray, Dwayne Felser, Tom Flynn, Francis Heiman, Bill Lowe, Evelyn (Hansen) Walker, Betty (Hubing) Lowe, Art Murphy, Robert Opelt, Virginia (Scholtz) Gassen and Herb Wagner.

A special 40th reunion cake was designed and baked by Bernard Schaub.

Members of the committee were Tom Flynn, Betty and Bill Lowe, Virginia Gassen, Robert Opelt, Dwayne Felser, Arthur Murphy, Ray Tesmer and Marian Ray.

Tom Flynn aced as master of ceremonies. Door prizes were given, among which was maple syrup donated by Bob Opelt.
