Sliva, Louis (5 February 1894 – 13 March 1981)

Louis Sliva, Sr., 87, of Black River Falls and formerly of Hatfield, died Friday, March 13, in St. Mary’s Hospital, Sparta. Sliva was born February 5, 1894, in Czechoslovakia, to Ludwig and Agnes (Lipina) Sliva. In 1912, he came to the United States and settled in Chicago. He married Elsie Cervak on June 23, 1916, in Chicago. He worked for General Electric (Hotpoint Division) of Chicago as a general production foreman. Following his retirement in 1954, the couple moved to Hatfield. At that time, he also was a consultant for Maytag Corporation of Newton, Iowa.

In 1967, they moved to Black River Falls. They had lived with a son for the last month. He was a member of the Key Man Club of Hotpoint, the Century Club of Hotpoint and the Lyra Singing Society of Chicago.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Louis Jr., Sparta; a sister, Agnes Plicka, Westchester, Illinois; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There were no funeral services and arrangements were made at the Charles Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls.
