Greenwood FFA Honors Members (1981)
The annual Future Farmers of America (Greenwood Chapter) banquet was held
Thursday evening, April 2, at the high school with 115 members and friends
attending. James Lato, chapter adviser, presented the officer’ pins to Jill
Denk, president; Jim Susa, vice-president; Amy Horn, secretary; Roger Ehlers,
Treasurer; Joe Ortner, reporter, and Ritchie Kohlnhofer, sentinel.
Ray Rondorf, president of the FFA Alumni, summarized the history of his group
and related what had been done by the 35 members of the local chapter this past
year.
Several of the officers took turns presenting the awards, named for Greenhand
Awards are Perry Braun, Scott Kohlnhofer, Steve Lindner, Todd Lindner, Dave
Nigon, Mike Ortner, Larry Schultz, Diane Speich, Mike Timmler, Julie Tyrrell,
Todd Schmidt, Doug Rondorf and Pat Hinkle.
Receiving Chapter Farmer awards were Leigh LeMarr, Larry Sloniker, Tony Musich,
Pat Opelt, Tammy Timmler, Ralph Smercek, Scott Krultz, Dan Susa, Margaret Gosar,
Ray Kessler, Mike Fabian, Angie Suda, Allen Horn and John Clouse.
Outstanding proficiency awards went to Ritchie Kohlnhofer, swine; Jim Suda,
Agribusiness; Ron Briski, production; and Amy Horn, dairy; Scott Kohlnhofer
received the Checker Power Gilt award from Smith Feeds; and Jill Denk received
the DeKalb award.
The Star Greenhand plaque was awarded to Mike Timmler. He also gave the FFA
Creed. Lee LeMarr was awarded the Star Chapter Farmer plaque. Tied for third
Degree Membership, presented by Principal Kammerud, were Jim Susa and Ritchie
Kohlnhofer.
Sales awards for seed corn sales, presented by LeRoy Mertens from Cooperative
Services, were jackets given to Doug Suda and Jeff Osmond. Jill Denk received a
vest. Scott Kohlnhofer was high in fruit sales.
Under the Doboy calf program, Amy Horn and John Susa were named to each have a
pure bred calf.
In the community project, the outstanding farmer in the community is John D.
Speich who was presented with a plaque.
During the evening, the Swing Choir, under the direction of Gorden Wisniewski,
presents a number of selections on the stage.
