A new club at Abbotsford High School, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), was granted its charter at an installation ceremony of members on Tuesday, March 27, 1973 in the high school cafeteria.

At that time, 26 girls from Abbotsford were installed by Jill Anderson of Thorp. The Charter presented by Preston Smeltzer, FBLA State Advisor. The local advisor is Mrs. Linda Laird , Business Education teacher at A.H.S.

There are over 5,000 FBLA Chapters in the United States, and Abbotsford is the 148th Chapter to be installed in Wisconsin. Blue and gold streamers, pussy willows and candles decorated the cafeteria, where the installation took place.

Wendy Kramer, as mistress of ceremonies, welcomed the visitors from Thorp, Colby, Neillsville, parents of the Abbotsford members, and representatives from the School Board, and the Advisory Council.

Philip Cassata, principal of Abbotsford High School, and William Zabrosky, manager of Liberty Homes in Dorchester, were speakers on the program. Preston Smeltzer, State Advisor, commented on the FBLA organization as a whole, and showed slides on FBLA.

State officers present were: Jill Anderson, state treasurer; Karen Palmer, state Parliamentarian. All these girls are from Thorp.

Besides installing Official Jill Anderson, other members of the installing team from Thorp were Karen Palmer, Marlene Serocki, Diane Ebben, and Nancy Kotecki.

Marilyn Schreiber presented the Charter Members and Wendy Kramer led the group in the FBLA Creed.

Officers installed were: Wendy Kramer, president; Dawn Zirngibl, vice president; Marilyn Schreiber, secretary; Shelby Kalepp, treasurer, and Nancy Jahnke, reporter,
