The 22nd Annual National Future Business Leaders of America conference was held
in Washington, D.C. on June 17 – 19, 1973. At this conference the Colby FBLA
chapter received the Gold Seal Chapter Award of Merit.
The Gold Seal Chapter award is given to those chapters who have contributed to a
better understanding of business through activity programs and projects, and
conduct their business in a commendable manner.
There were only 15 of these awards given to the over 80 chapters in Wisconsin.
There were over 2,000 students from 46 states attending the three-day conference
at the Sheraton Park Hotel. There were various business skills contests,
campaigning for national office and leadership seminars. Julie Nixon Eisenhower
was the special guest at the convention. For Big Name Entertainment night the
FBLA’ers heard the Looking Glass. The convention was concluded with a
three-hours tour of the Washington, D.C. area.
