Ten Colby High School students were awarded Harry Bender scholarships to attend band camp this summer. The scholarships were in amounts from $26to $65 and totaled $460.00.

Attending music camps on scholarships were: Barb Beyerl, Penny Hinke, Melanie Rickard, and Loretta Gums to a weeklong camp at Marshfield; Debbie Brey, Cindy Knight and Tammy Tyznik a camp at the University of Wisconsin, Superior; Mike Tennis and Jim Rickard, a jazz band workshop at Shell Lake; and Marilyn Bauer, the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay.

Also attending the music camp at Marshfield were: Donn Brehm, Cindy Ellenbecker, Ruth Gabriel, Melina Kaiser, Mary Langhus, Rae Rannow, Bronwyn Rannow, Sue Seipp and Carrie Pfefferkorn.

The Harry Bender scholarship fund is replenished by the band’s annual candy and fruit sales, and by donations from individuals and classes. The community’s support of this program is appreciated.
