St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Colby was the setting for the marriage of Denise Dibble and Edward Van Der Leest on Saturday, December 15, 1973, at 1:30 p.m. Father Francis Rushman performed the ceremony.

Parents of the couple are Marlene Lance of Colby and Harry Dibble of Clarkston, Washington, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van Der Leest of Stratford.

Attendants were Mrs. Diane Dahlke, Stratford, sister of the bride and matron of honor; Carol McCommons of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Louise Van Der Leest, Stratford, sister of the groom, and miniature bride; Terry Landwehr, Gordon Hein, and Joe Van Der Leest, all of Stratford, and John Lance, Colby, brother of the bride and ring bearer.

Ushers were John Karshbaum and Edwin Weiland.

The bride appeared in a white full length gown with ruffled cathedral train, sheer yoke and sleeves trimmed with embroidery and seed pearls and satin ribbon enhancing the empire waistline. She carried an arrangement of red roses and white carnations.

Her matron of honor wore a ruby red velvet gown, white fur muff and red roses; the bridesmaids royal blue velvet gowns, white fur muffs with red roses in the center of the muff, and the miniature bride wore a long white lace dress and veil, and carried a miniature bouquet like that of the bride.

A dinner for the bridal party followed the ceremony, and in the evening a wedding dance was held at Trianon Ballroom, with approximately 200 guests present.

The bride is a 1973 graduate of Colby High School, and the groom a 1972 graduate of Stratford High School. He is employed at Wisconsin Homes at Marshfield.

They will make their home at Route 3, Stratford.

Guests from out of town were Mrs. Homer Smack of Carnesville, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Ruby Tyrell, Lake City, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Carol McCommons, Erie, Pennsylvania, and Harry Dibble, Clarkston, Washington.
