Smith, Andrew Sr. (29 Dec 1901 – 19 Jan 1978)

Andrew Smith Sr., age 74 of R.R. #1, Owen, passed away Thursday, January 19, 1978 at 3:30 a.m. at his home.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 23, 1978 at 1:30 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. The pastor, the Rev. Lloyd Yaggie officiated, and burial followed in the church cemetery. Services were provided to by the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. Pallbearers were Al Bauer, Don Little, Harold Krarup, Emil Looker, Neal Vater and George Meckles.

Mr. Smith was born on December 29, 1901 in the Town of Longwood, and attended Owen area schools. He married the former Hilda Lang on October 20, 1928 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Town of Longwood, and he worked for Master Package Corporation in Owen from 1950 to 1968. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Andrew Smith Jr. of Owen, and Melvin Smith of Amery, Wisconsin; one brother, Jens Smith of Owen; Five sisters, Mrs. Herman (Dorothy) Martens of Spencer, Mrs. Mabel Nelsen of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mrs. Anna Bogard of Minneapolis, Mrs. Stanley (Martha) Iryboski of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Mrs. Nora Christophersen of Owen; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
