Richardson, Georgia (21 Jan 1885 – 21 Feb 1978)

Mrs. Dell (Georgia) Richardson, age 91, one of the pioneer residents of the City of Owen, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 1978 at Neillsville Memorial Hospital.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 24, 1978 at St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church, the Rev. Stulings officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery near Withee.

Pallbearers were Carl Sillampa, Paul Stasek Jr., Harold Kuehn, Alan Burhop, Henry Anderson, Leland Melbinger and Bert Cattanach.

The Maurina Funeral Home in Owen provided the services.

The former Georgia Chabot was born January 21, 1885 in Boyd. She graduated from Cadott High School and the Teachers Institute in Chippewa Falls. On June 15, 1905 she was married to Dell Richards in Cadott.

She taught grade school in Hayward, Stanley and Cadott before moving to Owen in 1906, where her husband managed John S. Owen Lumber Company.

She was librarian of Owen Public Library from 1958 to 1968, and was a charter member of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church. She taught Sunday School.

Surviving are two daughters. Mrs. Eugene (Virginia) Sutter, Owen, Mrs. (unreadable) (Vivian) McInnes, Van Nuys, California; two sons, Gerald of Park Ridge, Illinois and William of Waupun; one brother, Ambrose of Seattle, Washington; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Lawrence(?), one brother and two sisters.
