LOYAL -- Two Loyal High School students have received the Boy Scout Eagle Badge, the highest award possible in scouting.

Steve Hinker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hinker, and Erik Mrotek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald R. Mrotek, received their awards during ceremonies October 4.

Hinker has a grade point average of 3.26 and ranks eighth in his senior class. He is active in sports, forensics, band and the jazz ensemble.

A member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Steve has been an altar boy and helps with grounds upkeep. He is presently assistant scoutmaster with Troop 49. He was a patrol leader, senior patrol leader and assistant patrol leader. His Eagles project was designing and building a "Welcome to Loyal High School" sign. He plans to major in engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

Mrotek, who ranks sixth in his class, has a 3.58 grade point average. He has participated in forensics, drama, speaking contests and band. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Luther League, Sunday School and serves as an usher. He is now a patrol leader and a member of the leadership corps.

Mrotek also is an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow. His Eagle project was designing and building shelves in the parish secretary's office in the church.

He is interested in math and science.
