Mayer, Susan Kay (8 August 1981)

Susan Kay Mayer and William L. Schultz, Jr., were united in marriage by the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff during Saturday afternoon, August 8, ceremonies at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Harold mayer, 1407 Grand Ave., Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. William L. Schultz, Sr., Rt. 3 Neillsville.

“The Wedding Prayer and “The Wedding Benediction,” were offered as special music during the service by Paul and Beth Tess and Mrs. Melvin Nemitz.

Serving as maid of honor was Cheryl Mayer, a sister of the bride from Neillsville. Joining her were Kerri Grap, a friend of the bride of Neillsville; Judith Tyler, the bride’s cousin of Granton; and Donna Schultz, the groom’s sister of Marshfield.

On the groom’s side, Robert Schultz, the groom’s brother of Neillsville was bestman. He was joined by Will Statz of Neillsville, Rudy Horvat, Jr., of Willard and Bill Volland, Jr., Neillsville, all friends of the groom. Ushering were Mark Mayer and Jeff Schultz, brothers of the couple from Neillsville.

Brian Greeler, a cousin of the bride, was ringbearer while Michelle Zickert, a friend of the bride, was miniature bride. Both are from Neillsville.

The bride chose a gown in the Queen Anne style in silk organza, re-embroidered rosepoint lace, lantern sleeves and a sunburst pleated skirt that swept into a cathedral train. Her Juliet-style cap had a seed pears edged veil of the fingertip length. She carried a bouquet of red roses, white carnations, daisies and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore gowns in rainbow colors of rosebud pink, blue, peach and green, and which featured pleated skirts and rose print floral print cape. They carried bouquets of white roses, colored carnations that matched their dresses, daisies and baby’s breath. The groom wore an all-white tuxedo while his attendants were attired in black-trimmed tuxedos and colored shirts.

Following the service, a reception, dinner and dance was held at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. The couple then left on a trip to Southern Wisconsin.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Schultz will make their home on East Fifth Street in Neillsville. The bride is a graduate of Neillsville High School and is a receptionist for the Neillsville Clinic. The groom is a 1979 graduate of the same school and is employed as a welder for Nelson Muffler of Neillsville.

Prenuptial events included showers hosted by Mary Langreck and Charlotte Drescher; the bridal attendants. And employees of the Neillsville Clinic. The couple was also honored at a rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s parents.
