Fitzmaurice, Anna G. (12 September 1895 – 29 August 1981)

Mrs. Anna Fitzmaurice, 85, passed away in Neillsville Memorial Home on August 29.

Funeral services were held from the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville on Wednesday morning, September 2, for Anna G. Fitzmaurice. The Rev. Joseph Henseler of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville officiated. Burial was made in the Town of Mentor Cemetery.

The deceased was born on September 12, 1895, in Menomonie to Jacob and Anna (Simpson) Steiss. She received her education in Menomonie schools. On October 17, 1915, she married John D. Fitzmaurice in Menomonie ceremonies.

The couple moved to the Humbird area, where they farmed and lived in the village for many years. After the death of her husband (August 20, 1965), she remained in Humbird for a few years and then, approximately twelve years ago, she moved to the Neillsville Memorial Home. She remained a resident there until her death.

Surviving her are four sons, David of Avalon, Jake and James of Neillsville and Phillip (Rusty) of Humbird; three brothers, Frank Steies of Fall Creek, Ralph Steies of St. Paul, Minn., and William Steies of Rockford, N.D.; plus 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death, besides her husband, by two sons, a brother and three sisters.
