COLBY -- Colby High School's 1982-83 newspaper, "Hornet Highlights," has
received the George Gallup Award by the Quill and Scroll, an international
journalism association.
The newspaper received 915 points of a possible 1,000, classifying it as a
newsmedia of "superior achievements."
Judges evaluated the newspaper was evaluated for its policy guidelines,
coverage, writing and editing, display and design, and business practices.
Judges, however, disliked the absence of advertising in the paper, and suggested
photograph improvements.
Last year's staff was headed by Sue Rau, editor, and Rick Clifford and Dennis
Wibben, assistant editors.
