Lisa Marie Potter and Douglas Ronald Meier were united in marriage during Saturday afternoon, October 3, ceremonies at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. James L. Simenson, 314 East Sixth St., Neillsville; while parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. William Meier, 210 East Twelfth St. Neillsville.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Meier will be making their home in Fairford, England, where he is stationed with the U.S. Air Force.

For the nuptials, Vicky Symbal, a friend of the bride from Stanley, was matron of honor. Ann Klieforth, a friend of Eau Claire, and Donna Meier, the groom’s sister of Neillsville, were bridesmaids. On the groom’s side, Bradley Meier, the groom’s brother of Plover, was bestman. He was joined by Tim Potter, the bride’s brother of Eau Claire, and Greg Zimmerman, a friend of the couple from Eau Claire. Ushering were Darrell Meier, a brother of the groom, and Albert Ott, a cousin of the bride; both are from Neillsville.

Beth and Paul Tess, accompanied by Mrs. Melvin Nemitz, offered the vocal selections of “The Wedding Prayer,” “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Benediction” during the sharing of the vows.

The bride chose a taffeta A-lined gown, featuring a lace-bodice with seed pearls, scalloped neckline, stand-up collar, flounced skirt and chapel train. She wore a Juliet-style cap with fingertip veil and carried a bouquet of white gardenias, burgundy sweetheart roses and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore dusty rose-hued knot gowns with pleated bodices and matching side-slit coats. They carried bouquets of burgundy roses, dust rose dogwood and baby’s breath. The groom was attired in a white tailed tuxedo; his attendants wore dusty gray, tailed tuxedos.

Following the service, a dinner was held at St. John’s School, followed by a reception at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. The couple then left on a trip to northern Wisconsin.

Prenuptial events included a surprise wedding shower hosted by Kay Kelnhofer, Julie Mancheski and Robin Ives, all co-workers of the bride-to-be.

The new Mrs. Meier is a 1980 graduate of Neillsville High School and in 1981 from Mid-State Technical Institute at Marshfield. She was employed as a surgical technician at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester. Her husband, a 1981 graduate of Neillsville High School, is with the U.S. Air Force and has graduated from the Lackland AFB, Texas, police academy.
