Gruber, Julia Marie (11 May 1974)

St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, was the setting for the exchange of marriage vows Saturday, May 11, 1974, when Kenneth Leo Vesely claimed Julia Marie Gruber as his bride. Father Brugraff presided at the 2 p.m. ceremony, at which Mrs. Bruce Meyer was organist and provided accompaniment for Miss Beverly Schmidt, Stetsonville, the soloist.

Parents of the couple are Mike Gruber Jr., Madison and Mrs. Homer Graber, Mineral Springs, and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Vesely, Dorchester.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, appeared in a gown of ivory poly-crepe in Renaissance styling, accented by Cluny lace, scattered appliques on demi-bell skirt, which extended into attached train. Her veil of multi-tiered ivory illusion was attached to a pearl trimmed Camelot crown of lace. She carried a cascade arrangement, an orchid, surrounded by ivory roses and purple statice.

Miss Terry Cooper, Milwaukee, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Bev Peche, Miss Judy Boxrucker, Miss Joyce Dums, all of Marshfield, and Miss Linda Bolchen, Black Earth, Wisconsin.

They were attired in empire style gowns featuring V-necklines of floral rose print in orchid, over taffeta trimmed with Nottingham lace. Orchid picture hats with ivory trim completed their ensembles. They carried colonial bouquets of carnations and pom pons.

Miss Cheryl Sammer, Milwaukee, niece of the groom, was junior bridesmaid.

Greg Gorke, Dorchester, was the best man. Groomsmen were John Schmidt, Colby, Chuck Jantsch, Athens, Mike Gruber, Spring Green, brother of the bride, and Terry Schilling, Dorchester. Ushers were Don Gipp, Unity, and Jerry Michlig, Dorchester.

A reception and wedding dance were held at Dorchester Memorial Hall.

The new Mrs. Vesely graduated from River Valley High School at Spring Green in 1970, and Madison Vocational school, Madison, in 1971. She is a certified occupational therapist at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Her husband graduated from Colby High School in 1969 and is a heavy equipment operator, employed by Francis Melvin, Inc., Medford.

The couple will make their home at Route 2, Colby.
