Czech, Kathleen M.(17 December 1949 – 24 December 2021)

Kathleen M. Czech, 72, formerly of Thorp, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wausau, with Rev. Tom Lindner officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery in Thorp, with Rev. Leo Johnson officiating.

Kathleen M. Czech was born on December 17, 1949, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley, the daughter of John N. Czech, Sr. and Genevieve (Gaska) Czech. She was raised in the Hannibal area, and graduated from Gilman High School. After completing her education, Kathy moved to Wausau, where she completed a course of instruction and received a technical degree as a Legal Clerk. She spent her career working for the Judi Care System of Wisconsin in Wausau. During her off-time, she was instrumental in setting up a daycare program for Head Start in Mosinee. The building was dedicated as the “Kathleen M. Czech” Head Start Center. It offers free pre-school aged programs, providing successful transition to kindergarten.

She is survived by her son, Jason, and his two children, Roman and Cora Lynn; two brothers: Ted (Phyllis) Czech of Eau Claire, and John Czech of Chippewa Falls.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Sylvia and Ida; and five brothers: Alois, Anton, Leon, Adolph, and Robert.
