Mr. and Mrs. Edward Strathmann, Colby, announce the engagement of their daughter, Linda Lou, to Daniel J. Dums, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Dums, Route 2, Colby.

Miss Strathmann, a 1973 graduate of Colby High School, is presently employed by ITT Life Insurance in Thorp. Her fiancé, a 1971 graduate of Colby High School, is employed as an apprentice barber at the Mukwonago Roffler Shop in Mukwonago.


A October 19, 1974 wedding is being planned.

On Saturday, October 19, 1974 during a 1:30 p.m. nuptial rite at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby, Miss Linda Lou Strathmann and Daniel Jacob Dums were escorted down the aisle and given in marriage by their parents before the Rev. Robin Fink.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Strathmann, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Dums, also of Colby, are parents of the bridegroom. Bob Olson, Curtiss, provided nuptial music for the service.

For her special for her special day the bride appeared in a gown of organza and Chantilly lace, with full cathedral train, featuring a silk illusion and veil, which was secured to a lace bandeau headpiece. She carried a bridal bouquet of white roses, baby’s breath and orange mums.

Miss Sandra Strathmann, Colby, was chosen to attend as maid of honor, and Miss Doris Stroczenski, Abbotsford and Miss Nicole Dums, Colby served as bridesmaids. Each aide were an A-line style gown of flocked organza bud print on white Dacron sheer over taffeta and an orange chenille picture hat. Each carried a long stemmed orange rose with velvet streamer.

Dennis Engel, Dorchester, attended the bridegroom as best man. He was assisted by Tom Peissig, River Falls and Daniel Strathmann, Colby, groomsmen. Richard Strathmann and Ronald Dums seated wedding guests.

After the ceremony a wedding dinner was held at the church, followed by a reception and dance at the Sword in Colby.

The bride and groom are 1973 and 1971 graduates of Colby High School, respectively. The groom is employed as a barber.

The couple is living at 720 S. Jefferson Street, Mukwonago.
