Kleinschmidt, Roy J. (3 June 1921 – 13 August 2022) With Flag

Roy J. Kleinschmidt, age 101, of Linsey, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.

Roy was born on June 3, 1921, the son of Edward and Ida (Franke) Kleinschmidt in Lynn, and graduated from Lynn Public School in 1937.

At the age of 21, Roy entered the United States Army during World War II, where he was stationed on the Ascension Island as a construction foreman, building and maintaining airstrips. He was honorably discharged in December of 1945.

On July 29, 1950, Roy was united in marriage to Lucille Bredemann at Grace Lutheran Church in Nasonville. They were married for 52 years.

He was a member of American Legion #153 and a lifetime member of the Clark County Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his accordion, harmonica, and horseshoes.

Roy is survived by his children, Gloria (Wally) Wagner of Pittsville, Sharon (Marvin) Dye of Pittsville, Marie (Gary) Paschel of Marshfield, Vickie (Mike) Leer of Rudd, Iowa, Larry (Tammy) Kleinschmidt of Spencer, Randy (Ann) Kleinschmidt of Marshfield, Arlene (Paul) Krohn of Pittsville, and Mike (Kim) Kleinschmidt of Wisconsin Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; daughter, Darlene Stroetz of Spencer; brothers, Guy (Beatrice) of Wausau, Glen (Lilas) of Chili, Silas (Evelyn) of Chili, Norbert (Dorothy) of Chili; sister, Idora (Herb) Fenske of Chili; grandson, Jason Paschel of Wisconsin Rapids; and son-in-law, Don Nelles of Pittsville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home (1010 E. Veterans Pkwy. in Marshfield) with the Rev. Mark Krueger officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Town of Rock Cemetery, Nasonville.
