Connie Schmidt and Daniel N. Heindl, both seniors at Colby High School, have
recently been notified that they are to be featured in the Eighth Annual Edition
of Who’s Who Among American High School Students, 1973-74, the largest student
award publication in the nation.
Students from over 30,000 public, private and parochial high schools throughout
the country are recognized for their leadership in academics, athletics,
activities or community services in the books. Less than three percent of the
junior and senior class students nationwide are awarded this recognition.
Connie Schmidt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Schmidt, Route 2, Colby.
She is active in GAA, Masquers, Thespians - Secretary National Honor Society –
Treasurer, state solo and ensemble band – secretary and treasurer, and French
Club. She has also been class president during her freshman year. Daniel N.
Heindl is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Urban Heindl, Abbotsford. He is active in
track, cross Country, basketball, Letterman’s Club, pep club and many church
activities. He has also won letters in basketball and track, and awards in
science and art.
In addition to having their biographies published in the book, they will also
compete for one of the ten scholarship awards of $500 to $1,000, funded by the
publishers, and will be invited to participate in the firm’s annual “Survey of
High Achievers.”
Schmidt plans to attend UW-Marshfield upon graduation in June. Heindl plans to
attend college also, but hasn’t decided which one yet.
