Neillsville-Duane Riedel Received Award (1982)
The Wisconsin Council of Administrators of Special Education recently presented
Duane Riedel, Neillsville Elementary Middle School principal, an award in
recognition of his contribution on behalf of exceptional children.
The award was presented to Riedel by Jon Rulien, director of special education
for CESA-6 at the January 11 Neillsville School Board meeting. Rulien praised
Riedel for his involvement in projects and programs for the handicapped in the
Neillsville Schools and the CESA area of Chippewa, Clark and Eau Claire
Counties.
Rulien said Riedel has played an instrumental role in the development of
services for the multiple handicapped, learning disabled and mentally retarded
students in the district. He has supported and closely monitored the integration
of handicapped children into regular education classes where the children can
benefit from these programs, and he has encouraged the development of special
events and the acquisition of special events and the acquisition of vital
resources for handicapped children in self-contained programs.
