Miss Lorna Pearl Degenhardt was given in marriage by her father, to Eugene John Writz at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dorchester Saturday, September 14, 1974 during a 3:30 p.m. nuptial service. The Rev. Roland Golz officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Degenhardt, Route 1, Dorchester, are the bride’s parents, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Writz, 221 Alfred Street, Athens.

For her special day, the bride selected a white, empire style sata peau and Chantilly lace gown with chapel train. A Chantilly Camelot headpiece with sheer illusion veil completed her attire. She carried a bridal bouquet of red roses, white carnations and baby’s breath.

Preceding her down the aisle were the miniature bride, Lori Sue Degenhardt, sister of the bride, and ring bearer, Brian Bergman, cousin of the groom… Maid of honor, was Miss Lynne Degenhardt. Bridesmaids were Miss Lois Degenhardt and Mrs. Richard Brandl, all of Dorchester. Each wore an empire style gown of sheer organza, with print shee in colors of blue and ivory, and pine and ivory. Natural straw hats with olive green ribbons completed their ensemble. They had floral arrangements of varied colored carnations to match their ensembles.

Kenneth Writz, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Larry Schlais and Richard Brandl, friends of the bride and groom, served as groomsmen. Ushering guests were Larry Degenhardt and Dennis Erdman.

The organist, Linda Lueddecke, provided the accompaniment for soloist, Mrs. Beverly Kramer, who sang “O Perfect Love: and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

The bride graduated from Colby High School in 1972 and is presently employed by Muskegan Piton Ring Company as a factory worker. He husband attended Athens High School and works for Weyerhaeuser Company.

A supper and dance were held in honor of the couple at Trianon. They will reside in Athens.
