Braatz, Helen (7 March 1920 – 24 April 1982)

The Rev. Maynard Stokka officiated at the Zion American Lutheran Church (Town of Grant) funeral services on Tuesday morning, April 27, for Mrs. Victor (Helen) Braatz. Mrs. Braatz, 62, passed away on Saturday evening, April 24, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. With the Gilbertson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, burial was made in the church cemetery.

The deceased was born on March 7, 1920, in Canada to Henry and Ester (Monicke) Lucht. On May 18, 1938, she married Victor Braatz in Schofield ceremonies. The couple farmed in the Granton area and then moved to Weyerhauser in 1977. She was employed in her lifetime at Spaete’s in Granton and with Modern of Marshfield. She was a member of the Zion congregation, its Ladies Aide and had taught Sunday school for many years.

Surviving her is her husband; a son, Victor, Jr., Germany; two daughters, Yvonne Hardwick of Largo, Fla., and Mrs. Gary (Linda) Holtz, of Kenosha; two brothers, Walter of Wausau and James of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Schlinsog of Granton, Mrs. Gladys Borg of Oshkosh and Mrs. Marilyn Londerville of Hamburg; and five grandchildren.
