Strey, Robert Junior (20 May 1931 – 19 October 2022)

Robert J. Strey, age 91, of Franklin, passed away at Meadowmere Oak Creek in Oak Creek, on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

Robert Junior Strey was born on May 20, 1931, in the Town of York, Clark County, the son of Robert and Anna (Thomas) Strey. He was raised on the family farm, and received his education in the Loyal area, graduating from Loyal High School in 1949. Bob was united in marriage to Joann C. Fricke on February 18, 1950, at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. They moved to Milwaukee where he worked for General Motors, at AC Delco Spark Plug. He later became an engineer, as the company changed its name to GM Delco Electronics and produced gyroscopes for NASA’s Project Apollo Moon missions. Bob retired from GM after 36 years of employment. During retirement, they enjoyed traveling and camping in their motorhome.

He had many interests, but especially loved water skiing, camping, snowmobiling, golfing, motorcycle riding and playing Black Jack.

He will be missed by his wife, Joann, of Oak Creek; his son: Lynn Strey (Gail Szalay) of Greenfield; one granddaughter: Jennifer (Jason) Schubert of Oak Creek; two great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Hunter Schubert; two sisters: LaVern Morin of Menomonee Falls, and Norma Potter of Marshfield; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Elsie Fricke, Helen Domine, Hazel Seeman; and five brothers: Eralen, Ernie, Raymond, Victor, and Ceylon "Bud" Strey.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Windfall Cemetery in Granton, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating.
