Gruetzmacher, Darrell Arthur (22 November 1946 – 22 October 2022) With Flag

Darrell A. Gruetzmacher, age 75, of Thorp, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Aspirus Stanley Hospital in Stanley. There will be no services held.

Darrell Arthur Gruetzmacher was born on November 22, 1946, in Milwaukee, the son of Arthur Herman and Marjorie Lois (DeRuyter) Gruetzmacher. He was raised and received his education in Milwaukee, graduating from John Marshall High School in 1965. Darrell entered the U.S. Army on September 26, 1968, and served in Vietnam until his honorable discharge on April 29, 1970. He was united in marriage to Eileen Ruth Schmitt on January 23, 1971, at Pilgrim Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wauwatosa, whom he met in 1967. They lived and worked in Milwaukee until moving to Thorp in July 2003. Darrell then worked at Owen Manufacturing, in Owen, and later at Midwest Manufacturing in Eau Claire, until retiring in December 2009.

He had many interests, but especially enjoyed fishing, riding his horses, building model cars, working on his hobby farm, riding bicycle, but what he loved most was spending time with his wife and children.

Darrell will be dearly missed by his wife, Eileen, of Thorp; one daughter: Teresa Gruetzmacher (fiancé Chuck Lewallen) of Owen; and one son: Robert Gruetzmacher of Chippewa Falls. He was was preceded in death by his parents.
