The Clark County unemployment rate is higher than both state and national rates according to statistics released this week by JoAnn Hoffman, manpower specialist at the Neillsville Employment Office.

A high rate of layoffs in the mobile home industry and the construction trades were possible the major reason for this high rate.

Things may be getting better, however, because the amount of unemployment claims in January were less. Some mobile home workers have also been called back, according to Hoffman.
