Jakobi, Mr. and Mrs. John (Golden – 20 June 1982)

Mr. and Mrs. John Jakobi, 210 Depot St., Greenwood, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday afternoon, June 19, in festivities at the Greenwood American Legion Hall.

John Jakobi and Jane Brown were married on June 20, 1932, in Neillsville by the O.W. Schoengarth.

John was born on October 6, 1907, in Granton to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jakobi. He received his education in that community. He enjoys reading and paying cards. Jane was born on February 2, 1912, in Loyal to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Brown. She received her education in Loyal schools. She enjoys reading, sewing and gardening.

Both are active members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenwood. She is also active in the congregation’s ladies Aid and in the Lone Pine Homemakers Club.

The couple farmed all their lives in the Greenwood and Neillsville areas. In 1972, they retired and moved to Greenwood.

The couple has two sons, Gerald of Milwaukee and Harry of New Berlin; a daughter, Mavis Liebzeit, Greenwood; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Attending the celebration were John’s brother and Jane’s sister, who were original attendants for the couple.
