In mid-November, Erin Voigt, daughter of Tim and Sue Voigt, Neillsville, became a small business owner when she decided to open her own studio. Levea Esthetics, which provides specialized skin care services, has opened in downtown Neillsville.

Voigt was born and raised in Neillsville. After graduation, she attended the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire for teaching. She said, “after two years, I decided it wasn’t for me, so I transferred to the tech school for dental assistant. After only four months of schooling, I graduated in December of 2020. I worked at the dental office behind the Legion for a year.” While she enjoyed what she did and the people she worked with, she felt the Monday through Friday 9 to 5 work week “just wasn’t her lifestyle.” Voigt also realized “there was no room to excel except for maybe a raise.”

“With my dad having a business background, I’ve always known that owning a business is something I could achieve, that would offer more flexibility for my lifestyle – especially in the future with raising a family. It’s important to me to be able to work around my family life.”

When considering a career path that would offer that flexibility, her own personal battle came into play, along with her desire to “help people.” Voigt struggled with acne since middle school. She shared, “because I was concerned about what I was putting on my skin, I researched the ingredients in the products I used and was surprised at how toxic many of them are.” With her own personal experience with acne and the knowledge she’d gained through her own research, she chose to pursue a career in skin care.

Voigt enrolled in the State College of Beauty Culture in Wausau back in May of this year and graduated this past September.

Upon graduating, she concentrated on finding space to rent and getting her studio ready.

The name, Levea Esthetics (LE), came about while Voigt’s mother Sue would visit the beauty college every week. They brainstormed on finding a name that she liked. Sue asked, “is there a Latin translation for something that sounds relaxing?” Voigt researched that idea, but nothing sounded good enough. She said, “since I don’t have kids of my own and I don’t want to favor one of my nieces or nephews over the other, I looked at my middle name, which is Sylvia, and added a twist to make it sound pretty.”

LE offers three levels of facials, along with add-on services, such as microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and chemical peels. Waxing and sugaring services for the eyebrows, lips, legs and underarm are also available LE also offers lash extensions, fills, and carries Image Skincare and Face Reality skin care products for one’s acne concerns.

Voigt is looking forward to her grand opening and ribbon cutting, Thursday, December 1 at 4 p.m.
