Dierks, Greta (15 June 1901- 24 June 1982)

Greta Diercks, a 12-year resident of the Town of Pine Valley, passed away in a Port Edwards nursing home on Thursday, June 24, at the age of 81.

The deceased was born on June 15, 1901, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Claus and Dorothea (Rasmussen) Kelting. She received her education in Graettinger, Iowa schools. On February 25, 1920, she married Max Vollmert in Graettinger ceremonies; the couple farmed in Iowa until 1947 when they moved to the Town of Pine Valley. On April 22, 1959, Mr. Vollmert died. Mrs. Vollmert then moved to Neillsville.

On December 2, 1964, the deceased married William H. Diercks in Loyal ceremonies. The couple continued to make their home in Neillsville. Mr. Diercks passed away on October 8, 1972.

Mrs. Diercks had resided at 315 Court St., Neillsville, until one month ago when, due to failing health, she became a resident of the Port Edwards nursing home. She was a member of St. John’s congregation and its Ladies Aid and of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving her are four sons, Alfred Vollmert of Rudolph, Kenneth Vollmert of Mr. Ida, Arkansas and Ray Vollmert of Oxnard, California; two daughters, Lillian Kordick and Mrs. Kevin (Irene) Masters of Ottley, Australia; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Leonard (Vera) Drescher and Mrs. Walter (Erna Saibold), both of Neillsville, and Mrs. Herbert (Marie) Hinkleman of Loyal; and two sisters, Louise Peterson of Ft. Dodge and Christine Breadke of Graettinger. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and twelve step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death besides her husbands, by a son William and a sister, Anna.
