Jewett, Soh Boon “Frances” (25 May 1933 – 11 January 2023)

Soh Boon Jewett, 89, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully January 11th, at Marshfield Medical Center.

Soh (also known by her American name, “Frances”) was born in South Korea, May 25, 1933, to Pak Soo Myun and Nam Ryun Ni. The family relocated to Tsushima Island, Japan, where they fished and farmed. Soh was separated from her family after the Korean War. As a young teen, she arrived first in Busan and later, Seoul, South Korea. She came to the U.S. in 1959 after marrying American, James E. Zuege. They lived in Spencer.

She was proud to achieve U.S. citizenship on November 25th, 1968. Soh was employed for many years at Weyerhaeuser in Marshfield. She was known for her cooking, her many craft projects, and green thumb.

Soh later married Ervin Jewett in June of 1978. They were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield. They enjoyed many years together gardening, camping, fishing, and traveling across the U.S.

Soh is survived by three daughters, Unsie Zuege (Mark) Webster of Algoma, Irene Pueschner, and Caroline (Randy) Oestreich, both of Marshfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Haley Oestreich (Clifford) Smith, Portland, ME; Colin Pueschner, NYC, NY; and Ross Pueschner, Eau Claire. She was preceded in death by her husband Erv, her parents, and sisters.

The visitation will be held on Monday, January 16th, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Rembs Funeral Home, 300 S. Oak Ave., Marshfield, WI. The memorial service will start at 1:00 P.M., Rev. Chris Schwanz will officiate, followed by a lunch reception. She will be laid to rest at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Marshfield, WI.
