Nineteen members of the Clark County Junior Holstein Association attended the 2023 Wisconsin Junior Holstein Convention January 6-8 in Manitowoc. Nine of those attendees were from the Colby area.

The juniors all participated in the Dairy Quiz Bowl Competition. The Junior Dairy Bowl contest is where teams of four members compete against each other and are quizzed on Holstein and general dairy industry knowledge. The team consisting of Ella Raatz, Jacob Raatz, McKenzi Meyer, and Erika Sleznikow (of Marshfield) placed 6th in the state out of 33 teams.

Other Junior Dairy Quiz Bowl participants from Colby included Caitlin Folz, Allie Kunze, Chase Heeg, Teagan Meyer, and Kaiden Kunze. Jazmyn Heeg participated in the Senior Dairy Bowl competition and her team finished in the top 10.

Ella Raatz also participated in other individual events including Tri-Fold Display (second place and People’s Choice Award), Photography, People division (People’s Choice Award), and the Advertising Competition (3rd place). Jacob Raatz also participated in the photography contest. Ella Raatz was one of 14 youth in the state to be awarded the Distinguished Younger Member Award.
