Schmidt, Peggy Ann (11 September 1982)

The Rev. Joseph Henseler officiated at the Saturday afternoon, September 11, nuptials for Peggy Ann Schmidt and Carl George Michels. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville was the site for the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Verland Schmidt, Rt. 3 Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. George Michels, Alma Center, are parents of the couple.

Ronnie Resong and Rita Kuchenbecker offered special music for the service.

Mary Hart of Neillsville was the matron of honor. Joining her were Sharon Schmidt of Neillsville and Deborah Ruland of Eau Claire. Jeff Strandberg of Alma Center was the bestman, he was joined by Patrick Rolph of Menomonie and David Ripp of Alma Center. Ushering were Patrick Schmidt of Neillsville and Chris Bowman of Menomonie. Alter boys were Milton Schmidt of Neillsville and John Zimney of Milwaukee.

The bride chose a chapel-length gown of sheer organza over taffeta and featuring a sheer neckline with schifflic embroidery, Chantilly lace appliqués on the sleeves, ruffled skirt trimmed with lace and organza and wore a mantilla-style, waltz length veil trimmed with seed pearls and lace. She carried a crescent-shaped bouquet of white roses, wine carnations and baby’s breath accented by white streamers. Her attendants wore gowns in a wine color with pleated sunburst skirts and blouson chiffon jackets rimmed with Chantilly lace and waist ties. They carried nosegays of wine carnations, white sweetheart roses, white streamers and baby’s breath; each wore a white rose and baby’s breath in their hair.

Following the service, a reception, dinner and dance was held at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. The couple announced plans to take a trip to Northern Wisconsin.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Michels will make their home in Menomonie. She is a 1978 graduate of Neillsville High School and a 1981 graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Marshfield. She is employed as an RN at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He is a 1977 graduate of Lincoln High School in Alma Center and in 1978 from District I Technical Institute-Eau Claire. He is employed as a plumber, with Bowman Plumbing of Menomonie.
