Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer (Agnes P.) Marg, 78, Rt. 2 Granton, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 29, at the Zion American Lutheran Church in Granton with the Rev. Maynard Stokka officiating. The Gilbertson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and burial was in the Windfall Cemetery.

Martin Hillert was the soloist and Nancy Garbisch was organist. The congregation sang two hymns. Pallbearers were Thomas Hyslop, Curtiss Marg, Jr., Steven Marg, David Marg, Jerald Lautenbach and James Lautenbach.

Mrs. Marg died Tuesday evening, October 26, at Neillsville Memorial Home. She had suffered a stroke on September 17 and had been hospitalized since then.

The former Agnes Pauline Garbisch was born January 21, 1904, in the Town of Grant to Paul and Emma (Foemmel) Garbisch. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received her education at the Kurth School.

She was employed in Chicago a short time before her marriage on November 30, 1924, to Elmer A. Marg in Neillsville’s St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Except for two years, the couple lived in Camas, Washington. They owned and operated the Granton Garage for ten years before they moved to a farm south of Granton.

She was a charter member of the South Grant Sewing Club, a member of Zion American Lutheran Church and its Ruth Circle, a lifetime member of the Southern Clark County Conservation Club and was secretary of the Granton Senior Citizen’s Club.

The Marg’s celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on November 30, 1974, and in 1979 celebrated their emerald anniversary. They were selected “Grandparents of the year” of the Granton Fall Festival in 1980.

The deceased is survived by her husband, Elmer; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Alene) Lautenbach and Mrs. Harvey (Amber) Pischer of Neillsville; three sons, Curtiss of Fayetteville, N.C., Duane of Granton and Erland of Appleton. They are joined by 26 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ortwin (Hilda) Schimmel and Mrs. Joseph (Leona) Tucker, both of Superior. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ruth Agnes, on August 18, 1944, six brothers and one sister.

Relatives and friends came from Fayetteville, N.C.; Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; Clarksville, Tn.; St Paul, Mn.; and Wisconsin.
