Rankel, Pauline (10 Jan 1892 – 12 Feb 1977)

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 15, 1977 for Mrs. Pauline Rankel, 85, of Colby.

Officiating at the 11:05 services held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, was the Rev. Francis Rushman. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rankel died at the Colonial House of Colby on Saturday, February 12.

The former Pauline Schmuck was born January 10, 1892 in Australia. She came to the United States at the age of 17.

After her marriage to John Rankel on October 18, 1913, in Waukegan, Illinois, they farmed in the Town of Colby. Upon retiring 25 years ago the couple moved to the city of Colby.

Mrs. Rankel was a member of St. Mary’s Church and its Christian Mothers.

She is survived by two sons, George, Colby, and John, Alger, Michigan; six daughters, Mrs. Roy (Christine) Hanson, Unity, Mrs. Art (Helen) Cannon, Chicago, Mrs. Richard (Mathilda) Holemann, Abbotsford, Mrs. Carl (Irene) Schulze, Mrs. Ray (Lillian) Derczynski and Mrs. Hildegard Dizonne, all of Chicago; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; three brothers and five sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and one daughter.
