St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby, was the scene Saturday, June 5, 1976 of the wedding of Kathy J. Schraufnagel, Colby, and John J. Wilke, Phillips.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Al Schraufnagel, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wilke, Oconomowoc.

Father Francis Rushman officiated at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.

Vocalist was Beverly Schmidt, Oconomowoc, and guitarist was Steve Weber, Dorchester.

The bride wore an ivory satin gown with Alencon lace and seed pearl trim. The chapel sweep veil was trimmed with seed pearls and held by a Camelot headpiece. She carried a colonial bouquet with yellow rose, baby’s breath and stephanotis.

Maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Lori Schraufnagel, Colby. Chris Meinholz, Eau Claire, was matron of honor. Judy Pinter, La Crosse and Susan Steel, London, England, were bridesmaids.

The wore blue chiffon halter gowns with a yellow background.

Attending the bridegroom were best man, Robert Wilke, Mukwonago, and groomsmen Robert Davenport, Oconomowoc, Ted Meilleur, Cape Canaveral, Florida, and Jim Schraufnagel, Colby.

Ushering duties were shared by James Schneider, Green Bay, and George Woodbridge, Pulaski.

A dinner followed at the Colby Hotel, with a reception and dance at the VFW.

The bride, a first grade teacher, graduated from Colby High School in 1968, and received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater.

Wilke, a guidance counselor, received a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.

The couple will live in Phillips.
