The Womenless Wedding
The “Womenless Wedding” filled the opera house each night for a two-night performance, Tuesday and Wednesday. It was a complete success financially and in every other way.
The feminine costumes and other “makeup” that transformed several Neillsville men into presentable ladies, the selection of the characters in the cast, to fit them to their parts, and the preparations and training of the members of the cast in so short a time called for not a little skill and effort on the part of Miss Dee Ladwig who put on the play. The entire program was one big laugh from start to finish.

Mr. and Mrs. Kelpin feted by friends on anniversary.
A host of former neighbors and friends of Mr. and Mrs. William Kelpin drove in from Chicago Park Friday night and tendered them a real old fashioned surprise party at their home at 619 South Auburn St. The surprise to the local couple was really a surprise. The Chicago Park people had not forgotten that it was Mr. and Mrs. Kelpin’s forty-fifth wedding anniversary, and their remembrance was finely observed.
The evening was spent in games, music and various entertaining during which time refreshments were served. - Gross Valley, Calif., Ex.

Believes in free mail delivery.
We wish to thank the writer of the article which appeared in a recent issue of the Press regarding free mail delivery being installed here in Neillsville.
Now that the necessary requirements have been met, why the delay in securing this much needed service? We heartily agree with the writer that it would be a benefit to many, especially elderly people, to have their mail delivered at their homes instead of having to walk the long distance to the Post Office as many of us to do. We boost for free mail delivery. We need it and expect it for we believe all good things come to those who wait, if we wait long enough.
(Postmaster A.C. Martin assures the Press that all the necessary preliminary steps have been taken and that we must now await the regular proceedings of the Post Office Department at Washington - a certain method that is followed in all cases. - Editor)

New citizens
Tuesday was “Citizens Day” in circuit court and many applicants for citizenship and their witnesses were present to take the public examination.
C.R. Berg of St. Paul, U.S. Naturalization Examiner, was in court to assist Judge Crosby in the examinations. The following persons were admitted to full citizenship: Matti Mystic, Gustav F. Herrmann, John Marking, Francis Price, Herman Hediger, John Koperski, Anton Tomerak, Joe Skoniezuy, Bolislaw Zawadzki, Magdalen Roder, John Dalbin, Werner Jenni, Edward Sluzewski, Andrey Sukup, Paulina Jacek Sukup, Peter Jenkot, Angela Auman, Jack Malar, Mrs. Helmi Jackola, Fred Petrulis, Anna Petrulis.

Card of Thanks
The Methodist Church wishes through this card to thank all those who helped make the “Womenless Wedding” an outstanding success.
First, the fellows who were in the play and their humorous behavior caused appreciative entertainment. Those who furnished costumes and other necessary articles of equipment. The ladies who helped in the “makeup,” and to all those who with their responsive presence brought the best out of the actors.
The net proceeds were $538.00. Expense $106.00. The $432 was divided between Sympson Levie producing company and the local church. Signed, Committee.

Jule Sontag, conductor
Jule Sontag has been given the passenger conductor run on the day trains on this line, James McHugh for many years having this run, being assigned a place on the main line. The Merrillan-Marshfield round trip twice a day is one of the most desirable jobs on the line, as trains men living in Merrillan are at home over night and for all meals. Mr. Sontag has been a long time with the Omaha Company and is one of the most efficient men in the service.

Bazaar and food sale
The annual bazaar and food sale of the Ladies Aid of the Reformed Church is to be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The ladies will offer for sale at very reasonable prices a variety of fancy work, things to wear, cakes, pies, etc. Patronage respectfully solicited.

Red Cross drive this week.
Everyone is familiar with the nature and scope of the work of the Red Cross. During the next few days you will be given an opportunity to share in this noble undertaking.
One dollar will secure for you a membership in this organization for a period of one year. It is a privilege to be identified with the Red Cross, and in so doing we show our faith by our works. If you had been a victim of the recent flood disaster, you would appreciate the splendid, efficient service which this body administers. In helping the Red Cross, you demonstrate that your sympathies are universal.
At this blessed Christmas season, let us not forget the needs of our less fortunate brothers and sisters the world over.

Colby’s pioneer dies.
J.E. Gray, one of the early settlers, passed away Monday morning at the age of 77 years and 30 days, a stroke of paralysis being the cause of his death. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon Nov. 23.

Mr. and Mrs. John Trickner enjoyed a duck supper at the Muzynonski home Sunday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Scheeler and her sister and husband of Fond du Lac visited at the Wm. Herman and Adolph Meier homes last Friday.
Mrs. Schoen and daughters, Katherine and Elizabeth called on Mrs. G.C. Kaddatz last Saturday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Piech and Mr. and Mrs. Kurasz and sons spent Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Tichy and family.
Miss Ruth Kurtzweg and Mr. Ben Hart were married Saturday; the wedding was followed by a dance at the Columbia Hall. This community extends best wishes for a happy married life.
Miss Emma Boson and Mrs. Katherine Meier enjoyed the Thanksgiving holidays at their respective homes.
All who attended the party at the Sebesta home Thanksgiving evening report a good time.
Mrs. Wm. Meier helped her daughter, Mrs. Ott, strip feathers Tuesday.
