The Burdick family in Clark County traces its roots to Robert Burdick (c.1630-1692) who emigrated from England to America in 1651. The Burdick family spread from Rhode Island to other parts of the United States. Several members of the Burdick family served as soldiers in the Revolutionary War. Other members of the Burdick family married ladies who were descended from Revolutionary War solders. This was the case for two women who were recently inducted into the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Two members of the Burdick-Sternitzky family were inducted as members of the Jean Nicolet Chapter of the (DAR) in De Pere-Green Bay (WI) on October 8, 2022. They are Jayne (née Sternitzky) Ward of De Pere and Janet (née Sternitzky) Glowacki of Green Bay. Their genetic link to a Revolutionary War solder was identified through their relationship to Abraham Burdick (1784-1875) and Deborah (née Ferris) Burdick. Deborah (née Ferris) Burdick was a granddaughter of the Revolutionary War soldier Reed Ferris (1730-1804).

Many descendants of Abraham and Deborah Burdick lived at Lynn Township in Clark County. Their descendants are eligible for membership in the DAR. The Sternitzky family from Lynn Township was linked to the Burdick family through the marriages of two brothers Louis Gilbert Sternitzky (1888-1965) and Alvin Karl Sternitzky (1891-1960), to two sisters Martha Cornelius Burdick (1893-1981) and Edna Dora Burdick (1898-1980). Martha and Edna Burdick were granddaughters of Deborah (née Ferris) Burdick.

Jayne (née Sternitzky) Ward is now a member of the committee tasked with guiding other people through the process of joining the DAR. She can be contacted by telephone at 920-265-6319, or by email at <jayneward71@gmail.com>.
