The Golden Anniversary Jubilee

Mr. E. Sievert of Dr. Martin Luther College of New Ulm, Minnesota, succeeded her as primary teacher.  Upon Mr. Kluhsman’s resignation, he was placed in charge of the four upper grades while Miss Adelia Schumacher, also of Dr. Martin Luther College, was chosen as lower grade teacher.  This was made possible by a generous offer of the Rev. Wm. Baumann and his wife, who graciously offered to board the primary teacher in order to make it possible to retain two teachers.  On May 6, 1934, Mr. Sievert was extended a permanent call as principal of the school, and both Miss Schumacher and he are with us at the time of this Golden Jubilee.

The congregation, as many other things, brought a Golden Jubilee thank offering unto the Lord, the Preserver of its School, in the form of a complete remodeling of the School building.

At present a book rental system replaces the previous system under which each pupil bought his own texts.  Space has been provided for a library, and the beginnings thus far made are being continued.  The present average enrollment is seventy-five.  Since the very first day of School in 1886, English has been used as the medium for the sciences, while German reading and grammar and religion were taught through the medium of German. In recent years English is the only language used in the School as a medium for teaching.

Among the Church’s organizations we find that the Ladies’ Aid and the Dorcas Society have been especially instrumental in improving the school.
