The Golden Anniversary Jubilee

St. John's Lutheran Church

Neillsville, Wisconsin--September 6, 1936

The Ladies’ Aid Society

The Ladies’ Aid Society was organized on October 30, 1887, by the Rev. F. Eppling, Jr., with a membership of twenty-eight.  The first officers were Mrs. B. Dangers, Secretary; Mrs. H. Meier, Treasurer, and the pastor was chairman.  Mrs. Ernst Lustig is the only charter member and is still active in the society.  The first period of the society came to a close after an activity of ten years.  The second period begins in January, 1909, when the Aid Society was re-organized under the leadership of Rev. H. Brandt. The society is an acknowledged important factor in our church activity.  It wishes to serve the congregation in particular as well as the church in general.  It has a broad field of usefulness.  It would be interesting if all the monies donated by the society for church and school during these many years could be tabulated.  The society has an active membership of nearly 60 members and meets on the second Friday afternoon of every month in the large room of the school house.  In this our Jubilee year we thank God with devout hearts for His manifold blessings and rejoice that we have been permitted to work for the upbuilding of His kingdom.  May He continue to prosper our society. The jubilee gift of the Ladies’ Aid is the sum of five hundred dollars for the church.
