The First Marriage Recorded

 

Jos. Bodwen and Bertha Mund were married on April 22, 1888, in the home of H. Meyer.

 

During the past fifty years 279 marriages were performed.

 

 

The First Funeral Recorded

 

Louise Klopp, nee Frevert, born June 15, 1829, and died on March 29, 1886.  Buried by H. H. Ebert

 

During the past fifty years 371 persons were buried.

 

The Great War

 

On August 4, 1918, St. John’s Church decided to dedicate a Service flag in honor of its young men.  The Committee in charge consisted of Herman Berger, Frank Hemp, Henry Bartell, Henry Just, Wm. Naedler.  When the Armistice was signed on November 11, 1918, fifty-two stars decked the flag.
