John and Florence (Przybylski) Briski - 50th Wedding Anniversary

From The Thorp Courier, November 8, 2006 Transcribed by Dolores Mohr Kenyon Briskis Celebrate 50th Wedding AnniversaryJohn & Florence (Przybylski) Briski of Greenwood celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary by taking a European Holiday Tour to Germany, Czech Republic, and Poland. They were married October 13, 1956 at St. Hedwig’s in Thorp. The couple attended the special Golden Jubilee Mass for Couples, celebrating 50 years of marriage at St. Mary’s Church, Altoona, held on August 6th. The Most Reverend Jerome E. Listecki, Bishop of La Crosse was the celebrant for the Mass. After Mass, a family celebration was held at the Black Bear Supper Club in Augusta. John graduated from Greenwood High and the University of WI-Eau Claire. Shortly after their marriage, John was drafted for two years in the Army and was stationed in Germany for 18 months. He was discharged as a Spec. 4th Class. Following his military service the couple moved to Withee where John was employed by Owen-Withee District for most of his 34 years of teaching. After graduating from Thorp High and attending Eau Claire Business School, Florence was employed by Greenwood Farmer’s and Merchant’s Bank. They raised 4 children and later Florence continued with her banking career at the Owen-Curtiss State Bank, and the last 21 years at Time Federal Savings Bank, Owen as Manager/Loan Officer/Appraiser. She retired in 2001 after 30 years of employment. They relocated to Greenwood in 2002. The Briskis are former members of Holy Rosary Parish, Owen and now are members of St. Mary’s Greenwood. They still continue being part of Holy Rosary Choir & Polka Band. Their family includes a son and three daughters: Mark (Diane) Briski, Eau Claire; Michelle (Jeff) Lindgren, Eau Claire; Debbie (Paul) Pernsteiner, Medford and Barbara (Mike) Smith, Marshfield and ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. After their return from their European trip, another family dinner was hosted by their children and was held at Chelsea’s. |
