On Tuesday, November 10, 2009 a cannon salute in honor of Veteran’s Day was held on the Thorp School grounds for the entire school population and community members. The cannon salute ended a day dedicated to all of those who have served or are serving.

Company C Eighth Wisconsin Volunteers; The Eagle Regiment gave historical presentations through Civil War reenactments, portraying Federal Infantry and Artillery along with parade and memorial service activities throughout the afternoon for the elementary and middle school students.  Two cannon shots were fired for the salute, followed by a few members of the High School band playing Taps.  The elaborate showcase of American history impressed students, teachers, and community members alike.
