Paige Hutchings, a junior at Thorp High School, was recently nominated to take part in the 2010 Down Under Spirit Championships to be held on the Gold Coast of Australia in the summer of 2010.

After trying out at the Raider Classic competition on December 12, 2009, Hutchings received her nomination to take part in the international experience.  Hutchings will join a team of cheerleaders who have tried out at various cheer camps and competitions throughout the state.

The trip to Australia, scheduled for June 22 through July 5, includes athletes from around the world.  Hutchings will compete in the 2010 Down Under Spirit Championships, Australia’s international cheer, dance and pom event.  Later in the two week trip, the “Cheer Down Under” program will take Hutchings, along with the other athletes to the Cheer Fest event in New Zealand.

Hutchings is currently a member of the varsity cheer squad and is practicing, a routine for Cheerleading Regional’s with her team, set to take place this coming weekend in Wisconsin Rapids.

Hutchings has been cheerleading since she was in second grade, beginning her cheer career in the summer school program, which she continued through the fifth grade.  Once in middle school, Hutchings joined the school’s cheer squad, continuing every year until presently.

Receiving a multitude of awards for her achievements in cheer, including Major Motivator, Sensational Smile, and Most Valuable Player, Hutchings is set to extend her knowledge and experience in the cheer field.

Congratulations Paige, for this accomplishment!
