Langjahr, Irene (Marriage - 22 Apr. 1950)

A wedding in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity Saturday afternoon united in marriage Miss Irene Langjahr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Langjahr, and Alvin Edblom, son of Arthur Edblom.

The double-ring ceremony was read by the Rev. L. J. Larson. Preceding the ceremony Mrs. Eugene Coon sang "O Perfect Love" accompanied by Mrs. Henry Binning. Preceding the bridal party down the aisle was Carol Edblom, the groom’s niece, who was flower girl. She was dressed in a white satin gown styled with short sleeves, gathered skirt, and shirred yoke. Ringbearer was Harold Langjahr, the brother of the bride, who carried the rings on a white satin cushion.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father, who gave her in marriage. She was dressed in a traditional white satin gown fashioned with a nylon net yoke, long pointed sleeves. The yoke and and long train were trimmed with chantilly lace. Her veil formed a long train edged in lace. A tiara of orange blossoms and seed pearls made in a heart motif held the veil in place. Her bouquet was flush roses and lily of the valley with streamers.

Her sister, Doris, was maid of honor and wore a marquisette peach dress styled with fitted bodice, puffed sleeves and round yoke. She wore a picture hat and matching mitts. Her bouquet was colonial style of peach carnations.

Identical dresses of aqua, yellow and orchid were worn by the bridesmaids, Misses Eileen Edblom, Gail Edblom, and Lois Langjahr. They wore matching headdress and mitts, and carried matching bouquets, colonial style, of carnations.

Serving the bridegroom as best man was Arthur Edblom Jr., Unity, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Ray and Henry Henke of Vesper, uncles of the bride and Alvin Langjahr, Jr.

A reception was held in the church parlors, the bride’s table was decorated with a 3 tiered cake. The parlors were decorated with pink, blue and white streamers and white bells.

The bride was employed at the Coffee Shop in Abbotsford, Wis. The young couple will take a short trip to the southern part of the state and will then reside on the groom’s farm in Unity.

A wedding dance and coin shower was held at Walters Pavilion in Colby, Saturday evening.
