Way Back When

 The Thorp Courier  --   January 24, 2007

Just look at these two little boys in their overalls, transported from an earlier time to tell us a story. Do you know these little, curly headed boys? If this picture could talk, what would it tell us?

Last Week's Photo:

Dan Plewa and John Kedziora were able to identify the “Way Back When” from last week. The Red Arrow garage was owned by Ray “Red” Smigaj and his brother Stanley when this 1955 engine overhaul was performed. The Red Arrow Garage is now the home of S & K Enterprises.

Dan informed us that it looked as if a valve job was done when the engine threw a piston and damaged the timing gear. Mr. Plewa also stated that Red Smigaj made baseball bats called Cloverbelt Sluggers or Hitters.

For more information on the photo above, check March 14th's column.
