Way Back When

 The Thorp Courier  --   April 10. 2006..

Although these gentlemen may be effectuating the appearance of nonchalance, leaning casually against the fence as though they have not a care in the world, they’re also ready to “play ball.” Who are they and when was this photograph taken? What kind of record did this Thorp team from “way back when” have?

Last Week's Photo

Alvina “Bana” Lis of rural Stanley called in Monday afternoon to identify the young girls at the birthday party featured in our Way Back When last week. The photograph, taken January 23, 1962, was in celebration of Cindy (Bruzan) Lauer’s third birthday. She is pictured holding the cake, front and center. The other girls are: Back row (L-R) Linda Urban, Maxine Lis, and Mary Bruzan. Front Row: Sandra Lis, left, and Debbie Urban, right. The Urban girls and Mary are aunts to Cindy, who is a longtime employee of Drs. Melcher and Sprague in Thorp. This photograph was sent to us from Clem Bruzan of Eau Claire.
