My Grandfather was named Jan Turczyn was maybe from Lublin. Maybe came to USA 1912. He married Koarline Rusak in Polamd had two children there and two in the USA. Is there any connection between us. also there is a town named Turczyn poland which may have leaned to Ellis Island using the town name rather than the sure name for the DP,s. Please reply. Thank you Al

Hi- There is a village in Poland named Turczyn, and yes, it has been used as the basis for surnames of folks coming from there. Sometimes, as in the case of my father's father, the ending "owicz" was added to denote that. So my father and his sibs had the surname TURCZYNOWICZ, which they later shortened. Most shortened it back to Turczyn, but my dad shortened it to TURNER. Since the surname TURCZYN is pretty uncommon, it shouldn't be too hard for you to find relatives. good luck, Holly Turner
