The Hubert & Anna Horn Cabin

This was our home until 1941.  All three of us kids,Gerald, Darlene & I, were all born in it.  My Dad, Hubert Horn, did not build it. It was already on the property when Dad and his brother, Otto, purchased the farm from a Arthur Orth.  It was also known as the Yankee farm, because a family by the name of Yankee once lived there. I do not know who actually built it.  I have no idea when the picture of it was taken. It would have to be sometime before 1940 as Dad built out new home in 1941 and the log home was torn down right after that. I have a wonderful story to tell about what happened to around 3 of those logs from that old home.

My mother, Anna or Ann Horn, is in the picture to the left with a team of horses.  Her name was Anna, but when she married Dad, there already was an Anna in the family. Dad's brother, Gustave, had married Anna Woepse. So Mom dropped the last a in her name. However, on her grave stone she is listed as Anna. The horses in the picture were Dick & Dub. I would guess the picture was taken around 1927 or 1928. They were married on June 22, 1927, and I came along on Oct. 3, 1929, and it is my guess that the picture was taken some time in between.
